The Scots-Irish DNA project is open to male Scots-Irish to assist their families' genetically genealogy and family history research. The project uses Y chromosome testing. The DNA is only passed from father to son, which is the reason why it is restricted to males only. Ladies who participate do so by enlisting a male proxy in the family line they need to research.
The Scots-Irish DNA project uses Family Tree labs in Houston Texas. We recommend using the 111 marker test, though the 67 marker test is also useful.
We do ask that all participants be bona fide Scots-Irish. When you send in a join request please include a note concerning your family's Scots-Irish heritage.
